In addition, you assign each pattern you make to a pad, and can either trigger these pads with a single midi note from the sequencer, or drag a pad into the sequencer which drops the midi sequence there.Ĥ agents at once is good if you want to build up 1 big 'super kit' with a lot of drum drums all in the one place, and especially useful to trigger them using a controller. Unfortunately the VST3 version of Halion 5 never displayed properly in Studio One (2 nor 3), so in Studio One I use GA4.Not sure about the fl editor but it is similar to the drum edit window found in the cubase sequencer. So I eventually started using Halion for custom sample playback (H5 does everything GA4 does but without the grid and drum approach). But the fact I could not drag and drop events with regions from my DAWs (Cubase and Studio One) to the sampler started to annoy me. The only other grid based drum sample player I own is Battery.

I neither can judge the quality compared to products as Geist, BPM, Phalanx etc. I can't judge the factory content compared to Impact, because I hardly ever use pre fabricated stuff.

  • Patterns can be recorded from Studio One.
  • Drum editor (unfortunately a bit small) with stick (diamond and note length mode) and quantize per pad.
  • 29 build in effects (EQ's, compressors's, saturation, modulators etc.) that can be used across the 16 audio outputs, 4 FX auxiliaries or Kit/master outputs.
  • 32 exclusive mute groups per sampler (kit).
  • Different independent playback modes of pitch, filter and amp ADSR's per pad.
  • Sample and slice editor with zero crossing, loop crossfade, normalize, slice player etc.
  • Loop points, Delay, Key range, Polyphony amount, playback quality, Midi FX (Rudiments, MIDI delay) etc.
  • MIDI learn for almost every parameter with Min.
  • #GROOVE AGENT 4 UPGRADES FULL#

  • 4 full (drum) samplers in one device (that 4x128 pads and 4x128 MIDI patterns).
  • The track selection in the song even follow the internal selections of the kits within GA4 and the other way around.Ī (subjective) shortlist of global pro's over Impact: Automation, drag and drop all works the same. The integration of GA4 is of the exact same level (apart from being able to load Sound Set content) as Impact. You can hardly call it a drum sample player alone. You can see it as Impact on an overdose of steroids. That being said, GA4 is absolutely a welcome addition to Studio One for me personally. But since my main musical environment is build on Steinberg's tools the dongle isn't an issue for me (when not on the road). If I didn't had an eLicencer dongle already I probably never considered demoing the Steinberg stuff either. Anything extraneous or anything I deem superfluous does not cut the mustard for my setup, i've got enough sh_t to worry about without needing to deal with all that other pesky frivolous stuff. I need streamlined simplicity with as little fuss as possible. So many issues arise with these things at one point or another sooner or later, and it's just one more thing to distract and cause unecessary concern. They like to think it's fine, what's the problem they're thinking.

I also refuse to buy any NI stuff and IK Multimedia stuff and Waves stuff because of their software license centers.

Cakewalk and Bitwig and Reaper could easily make the same argument for copy protection, but they don't, feel me? I don't care what Steiny's excuse is, or what their reasoning is, or what their prerogative is until Steiny drop the dongle hell will freeze over before I give them so much as a cent. I have a sneaking suspicion that many other potential buyers have refrained from purchasing for the same reason. If they were to drop the dongle all-together, I would buy their modeled Portico series, Groove Agent 4 and Cubase 8.5 as a back-up DAW. I wonder how much money Steiny has foregone due to their insistence on this mosquito, oops i mean eLicenser? So much stuff of theirs I would have purchased, but alas, apparently Steiny knows more about what we need than we do lol.

A bit - no more than a bit bemused that you gotta part with €20+ for a usb dongle to run the 'free' trial version - how crazy is that? They had me hooked until I saw that requirement!
